April 2009

As we get ready for a very busy wedding weekend, I think back to last year at this time…which was also a popular weekend, as I think the first weekend in May is every year.  This weekend, Brenna is preparing for a wedding at Perkins Chapel and the Dallas World Aquarium, while Cristina has one at Christ the King Catholic Church and the Tower Club.  Last year, I was prepping for Jennifer Boisture’s wedding at Highland Park United Methodist Church and 1717 at the Dallas Museum of Art.  I loved the colors Jennifer used — bright oranges with lots of gray-green succulents.  Bella Flora did the floral and Gary Donihoo of F8 Studio took these great pics.  The gorgeous cake is compliments of Dallas Affaires Cake Company and the band was TOP (Absolute Entertainment).

Lauren and Zach’s wedding took place at the Church of the Incarnation and the Nasher Sculpture Center — with Wolfgang Puck Catering doing a fabulous job on the food!  So yummy — she-crab soup, shrimp and cheese grits, truffled mac n cheese…should I go on?  Junior at Garden Gate Floral did a phenomenal job of creating the “magical” garden that Lauren desired. in combination with the lighting crew at Absolute (thanks Alan!).  Brooks Whittington Photography perfectly captured the moments and details of the day, while Summer Satterfield delightfully documented via videography.  Brian Prescott of Simply Music was the emcee for the evening, while Time Machine rocked with their cool sound!  The bride’s wedding gown was a custom creation by Michael Faircloth.  Margaret and her team at Dallas Affaires outdid themselves with the Eames chair for our architect groom — check out the photo below!

Jenny and Michael’s wedding was a fun event – due in large part to the fact that they were just a FUN group of people.  Everyone – family, wedding party, friends — all so nice and laid-back…made for a GREAT party!  Their ceremony was a the beautiful Perkins Chapel on the campus of SMU, and the reception followed at the hip and cool Hotel Palomar.  Lisa Dalton and her staff were fabulous — thank you for all you did to make it a success!

Other great vendors that made this wedding stand out were: Visual Image (photo/video), Marcus Rollins (DJ), Fete des Fleurs (floral), Absolute Lighting (lighting), BBJ LinensStardust Celebrations (gown), Culwell and Son (tux), Sonia Trevino (hair), and Booth Booth (photobooth).
